Watermelon Mountain Pony Club was founded in the 1980’s by a group of local parents who wanted their children to be exposed to the fun and the values of Pony Club. WMPC members have ranged from 6 to 21 years of age from the D1 rating to the HA rating.

USPC is unique because its educational programs place equal emphasis on teaching horse-care fundamentals, team work, sportsmanship and riding.
In 2015 our members had monthly meetings. They attended regional pony club camp in St Johns Arizona. There was a spooky Halloween party in October. The kids and the ponies dressed in costume and mummified each other. The ponies then bobbed for apples. The end of the year was marked by a trip to the National meeting. Two of our members participated in activities such as anatomy lab at the “Pony Paddock”.
Joining the Watermelon Mountain Pony Club is easy. Download the forms below and use the checklist to insure that you are submitting the required documentation. If you have questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org

Learn, Do, Teach.
Every month we meet at a member’s house and we learn something specific about horse management. First members learn how to do a skill, then they practice the skill to develop competence, then they have the chance to teach the skill to the newer club members.
We have mounted lessons for the club once a month. They are group lessons with 2-4 riders. Before you get on your horse you must ask an adult or an upper level pony clubber for a safety check! A safety check is when you, your horse and your tack are inspected to make sure that everything is safe. If something is unsafe or if there is a problem, an adult or more experienced pony clubber will help you to fix the problem.
Rallying is the heart of Pony Club team competition where members get to put the skills they have learned to the test. At a Rally, teams of Pony Clubbers compete at riding and horse management while adult judges observe and coach as needed. At different times through the year there are rallies in each of the sports offered by the United States Pony Clubs: eventing, dressage, show jumping, tetrathalon, polocross and quiz.
